and examine
beneath the soil
ask:
Is the bulb plump,
firm and full of life?
or
shriveled and gopher eaten?
Can it fuel growth
towards the sky
or
do the extremes
of sun and snow
cause it to wither and die?
Do you care
for your bulb
of life brimming full?
